If you ever need an LDAP server for testing purposes, I suggest OpenDS - an open source implementation of LDAP.
It's easy to install, setup and has a nice testing feature - "Import Automatically Generated Example Data".
To run the install go to: http://www.opends.org/promoted-builds/2.0.0/install/QuickSetup.jnlp and run with Java Web Start.
